Research Insights Club is about helping students gain practical skills and understanding needed to navigate the world of research effectively. From learning how to effectively read a research paper, staying current in your field, and time management skills, we bring in experienced student and faculty researchers who give their insider’s perspective on these things.

Whether you’re totally new to research or have been involved before, Research Insights Club is a great way to help you navigate the “elusive” field of research.

Organization Structure

Research Insights Club is divided into 3 main committees. Members will join one committee of their interest where they will support the clubs’ initiatives and gain marketable skills that many have added to their resumes. Members are eligible to join multiple committees if they wish. Each committee’s activities are overseen by their Committee Chair. Thus, there are 3 Committee Chairs.

Committee Chairs are appointed by members of the Executive Board. Members of the Executive Board are elected through an election process by active and official members of the club. Executive Board members also actively participate in committees.

The Committees

Academic Resources Committee: The Academic Resources Committee curates informational dockets on the topics such as but not limited to formatting research papers, choosing a research lab, finding reliable resources, and the surviving quals. This committee uses raw, empirical data and personal experience to create resources that are meant to academically support students involved in or who want to be involved in research. This committee regularly takes requests to write about topics that members want to know more about.

Communications Committee: The Communications Committee formats information gathered by the Academic Resources Committee in a unique and easily digestible manner. This committee decides whether information should be delivered through a post on the RIC website or as a student panel event. This committee is in charge of updating and monitoring the website and also represents RIC on all social media. This committee runs the RIC Instagram, making posters or infographics for posts and to promote events.

Events Committee: The Events Committee plans and executes RIC events. They also coordinate RIC attendance and represent RIC for official RSO or Georgia Tech events. This committee will have tasks such as to reserve rooms, create RSVP forms, create attendee feedback forms, set up the event space and to select what food will be provided during events. This committee will also report on event turnout and success.

Membership

Members are defined as someone who:

  • attends the bi-weekly meeting for at least one committee and/or executive board
  • is actively involved in the work of one committee and/or executive board

Members enjoy the benefits of RIC’s highly coveted semesterly member-only socials. They also receive exclusive access to RIC’s resources and attendance to RIC events. Members have the opportunity to move up in the club and to campaign for elected chairs.
